We’re Down to The Final Hours

I thought I would share with you some of the cool ways ONE supporters across the country have rallied their friends and families to help gain back nearly a billion dollars for the fight against extreme poverty for fiscal year 2007. I have heard tons of wonderful stories throughout the day, and whether you are a high school student who just made your first call to your senator’s office, or you took letters to get signed at church this past Sunday, all your efforts are making a difference. Here are a few examples of people working together as ONE:

  • The North, a rock band based out of Louisville, Kentucky, sent an email to their 38,000 fans on MySpace asking them to call their congressional leaders.

  • The Reverend Mike Kinman, Executive Director of Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation, wrote about the “Dear Colleague” letters on their organization’s blog.


It can even be a family affair, I asked my dad to send a letter to our leaders here in Kentucky, and he took it a step further by asking everyone at his small cable TV company to sign onto letters and then posted some in the lobby to ask customers to sign as well.


We only have a few hours left until all the signature are due. If you have not called your representatives in the House and Senate yet, please take a few minutes right now to call 1-800-786-2ONE and ask them to sign onto the “Dear Colleague” letter. Calling both of my senators and my congressman took less than 10 minutes! We can make poverty history, but it will take all of us working together to make it happen.
