Bono Receives NAACP’s Chairman’s Award Tonight

Tonight Bono will receive the NAACP’s Chairman’s Award at the 38th NAACP
Image Awards.

Established in 1967, the NAACP Image Awards is the nation’s premier event
celebrating the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice.

The Chairman’s Award will be given to Bono “in recognition of special
achievement and distinguished public service.”

Bono helped launch the ONE Campaign in 2004, which today includes 2.4 million members
united in the fight against extreme poverty.
