March 22 is World Water Day.
Unsafe water and poor sanitation play a major role in the transmission of many of the world’s most deadly diseases, and once every 15 seconds, a child dies from a lack of safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene.
World Water Day was created during a 1992 United Nations conference and is designed to raise awareness about the over one billion living today without safe drinking water.
On Thursday and Saturday of next week, ONE members will be joining events in 26 cities across the country. Learn more and sign up for an event near you here.
(If you don’t live near any of the cities, you can sign up for the virtual World Water Day walk .)
