On tour in South Africa, Daughtry visited the US-supported Anovo Clinic and the Nike Training Center in Soweto with ONE’s Africa Director Sipho Moyo. Anova Clinic focuses on the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and the Nike Training Center is a place where children in Soweto train for soccer and learn more about HIV prevention and treatment — Nike is a partner of (RED). Stay tuned for more updates from Daughtry’s time in South Africa. Here are two photos from their trip:

Last night at the Maroon 5 concert, ONE volunteers from Minneapolis, Minnesota signed up 721 new members — we totally rocked it out! We had a powerhouse of volunteers, and about half were college students, a couple high school students and a handful of our everyday volunteers. We covered the entire Target Center, and not one out of the 5,500 people that attended last night’s concert did not see a ONE volunteer trying to get people to commit their voices to help the world’s poorest people!

Ry Cummings, the opening musician, came up to our table after his performance and thanked us for all the AMAZING work that we have been doing for the world’s poorest people. We then got a sticker on him and a band in his hand and we took a group picture. He thanked us and asked all of the screaming girls that were around us to sign up to fight for the against poverty before getting a picture with him.
Maroon 5 gave us a shout out from stage, telling everyone about how great we were and that we are doing amazing work. We had a great night and really showed how AWESOME ONE Twin Cities volunteers are!

ONE is hitting the campaign trail to find out where candidates stand on extreme poverty. Stay tuned for more updates like these from our field team and organizers on the road.
CDL Barb Barrar with ONE members and Rep. Sestak
Last night, at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., ONE members attended a rally with Representative Joe Sestak featuring former President Bill Clinton. In their brief engagements with the former president and congressman, our members were sure to underscore the importance of continued bipartisan US leadership that has now saved more than 5 million lives in some of the poorest places on earth. They also took the opportunity to thank President Clinton for all his work to help save lives in Africa and Haiti.
ONE member Barb Barrar also made clear to Rep. Sestak that right now, more than ever, the next senator from Pennsylvania needs to understand that saving lives in Africa is a moral priority and helps foster a safer and more secure world. As the final hours of this campaign season wind down, I encourage all ONE members to be active at campaign events between now and Election Day.
With only a few days left, your voice with ONE is more important than ever as we continue the fight against extreme poverty. Urgent action will be needed after the election, so stay tuned to the ONE Blog.

We just want to remind you that the 4th Annual Mashable Awards are underway for excellence in digital and social media campaigns.
ONE is competing for the category of “Must-Follow Non-Profit” and needs your help in getting nominated. With just one month to go, we’d really appreciate it if you could take ONE minute right now to vote. Submissions are open until Monday, November 29th and the top five organizations nominated for each category will advance to the final round on December 1st.
Go to the Mashable site to vote — all you’ll need is your Twitter or Facebook login info. Thank you!
Earlier this year, ONE launched ONE Vote 2010, an effort to mobilize voters and engage U.S. Senate candidates in open seats to make the fight against global poverty and disease a key foreign policy and security issue at the 2010 ballot box.
Just like ONE Vote ’08, we asked the candidates to make time for the more than 7,000 Arkansas ONE members and the world’s poorest people and answer our 2010 ONE Vote question:
Q: ONE’s vision for Africa is rooted in a moral and humanitarian desire to help the most vulnerable people, a recognition that building economic opportunities abroad creates opportunities at home, and a strategic understanding that our national security is intertwined with the stability of poor countries across the globe. Through bipartisan cooperation in Washington, the US has been a leader in helping provide millions of Africans with life-saving medicine, children with the chance to go to school, and women with the tools to feed their families, while investing in sustainable economic growth and tackling corruption to ensure scarce resources are used as intended.
How best can the US continue to tackle global disease, poverty, and hunger?

With only a few days to go before the 2010 midterm elections, many races across the nation are too close to call. If early voting reports are any guide, indications are that this year’s overall voter turnout may be higher than expected, and therefore every vote will count.
As the assistant director of government affairs at ONE, I know how important it is to have high quality leaders, from both parties, in office. Leaders who not only share our passion for fighting poverty and supporting global health initiatives, but willing to actively work with us to achieve success. If we expect to have the kind of champions we need in Congress, we have to elect them first. This means getting out to vote on November 2. So, don’t sit this one out. Millions of people are counting on you.
To make it easy, we’ve included this handy Google application that helps you find a voting center near you. All you have to do is enter in your zip code:
All American citizens who are 18 years and older have a right to vote and should take advantage of that right on Election Day. Only through the election process can we put leaders into office who are as committed to serving the world’s poorest across the globe as we are at ONE. Tell your family, friends, neighbors and your classmates to vote on November 2.

Hitting the campaign trail on behalf of ONE Vote 2010, longtime ONE supporter Bob Bowers, also known as “Da Pirate,” had the chance to meet with Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold on Thursday. Bob is a 26-year thriving survivor of HIV/AIDS and is a well-respected educator and advocate.
Sen. Feingold was at Madison College for a student meet and greet. Madison College students and a few of Bob’s friends were on hand to thank Sen. Feingold for his continued support of ONE and his help in the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease. Sen. Feingold enthusiastically put the ONE band on his wrist to show his support.
